The Onyx Palace is the eighth book in The Collector series, each title written by different authors. The Collector is looking for a totem of love that has magically been broken into several pieces and then far-flung. Although a series, each book can be read separately. The Onyx Palace is one of the last pieces to be found, and it involves two couples as main characters. I loved both couples, Jasmine and Brad, and Ben and Tabitha. Jasmine and Tabitha were particularly interesting to me; their stories were very appealing. Each couple’s story was fully told as the plot developed. Both women were very lonely in their own ways and the Johnson men fell for them quite early in the book. Each couple had their own fabulous sexual encounters and I was totally enthralled as I read all that wonderful sex. There was no gratuitous sex; all of the couples’ encounters added love and beauty to the story. Along with the sex, this plot had all of the characteristics of a perfect adventure: magic, death, sex, love and a beautifully told story. There was evil and both authors described it all thoroughly. This book might have been confusing but I did not have trouble with any of it. As an extremely long novel, I would have expected many secondary characters and I was not disappointed. There were no extraneous characters though, as each had its own place. The only question that I had was whether The Onyx Palace was the final book. If so, I would have liked just a bit more finality. Even with that small situation, I heartily recommend it.

The plot was intriguing and had a surprise for the ending. Fun, erotic, suspenseful and action packed, The Onyx Palace is one not to be missed. Diane Charles Linford and Jade Rivers continue the excellence set for this series since the first book debuted.
